The SWEED Model 517 XHD is a heavy-duty scrap chopper designed for operations processing substantial quantities of tough linear scrap. With its large cutting capacity and rugged construction, the Model 517 XHD provides the durability and power needed for demanding production environments and specialized scrap processing applications.
Ideal for heavy steel banding, wide band saw blades, baling wire, and other linear scrap, the Model 517 XHD turns long, difficult-to-handle material into short, manageable pieces for easier collection, handling, and recycling. Processing scrap at the source helps improve workplace housekeeping and safety, maximize container capacity, reduce waste handling and disposal costs, and prepare valuable scrap material for its next destination.
The Model 517 XHD features a durable 1/2″ plate steel housing and powerful air-activated feedworks capable of despooling material directly from reels. A footswitch provides operator control during feeding, while a magnetic starter helps protect against unexpected restart following a loss of power. The chopper can also be paired with a SWEED stand and EZ Dump Hopper, with custom stands and additional safety upgrades available.
