Sweed Scrap Choppers: Scrap Solutions for all Industries

No matter what industry you are in, maintaining safety and efficiency in your facility, yard, or receiving dock is a must.  A quick and easy way to maximize productivity and worker safety while simultaneously reducing costs and increasing revenue is by streamlining your scrap materials.

SWEED scrap choppers offer solutions to reduce a variety of scrap; everything from P.E.T. strapping, steel banding, baling wire, and bandsaw blades to fast-moving slitter trim and red-hot tube scarf.

Scrap that has not been chopped poses a danger to employees. This picture shows sharp, hot, unchopped tube scarf that was formed from a production line.

Unchopped scrap is difficult to handle and poses a hazard to employees when left lying around. With a SWEED scrap chopper, workers only have to handle this dangerous scrap once, immediately discarding it and keeping it out of harm’s way. In most cases, the R.O.I. of a chopper is realized by reducing just one Workers’ Compensation claim; SWEED scrap choppers are like loss-prevention programs ready to be installed in your plant.

Scrap choppers are simple to operate. Just introduce the material into the feedworks, and the chopper will quickly cut the scrap into small pieces that drop safely into a container underneath.

Each scrap chopper has an easy to reach feedworks hand lever or air-activated footswitch that allows for quick release of the material; the infeed restrictor-plate provides operator safety and acts as a material guide. Each chopper features a rotating and stationary knife that can be rotated three times before needing to be replaced.  SWEED scrap choppers can be used as stand-alone units or integrated into an automated production line. Additional safety upgrades and custom stands are also available.

From L to R: Chopped steel banding, chopped PET and plastic strapping, and chopped baling wire – all compacted and ready-to-recycle after being processed in a SWEED scrap chopper.

With a SWEED scrap chopper in place, you can dispose of unwanted scrap in the same amount of time – or even less than before – increasing productivity, efficiency, and employee safety. And because of the incredible scrap compaction ratio that chopping scrap provides, you will reduce the number of times your dumpsters are emptied while also preparing your scrap for recycling, helping you achieve your zero landfill goals.

For reliability, SWEED is the only choice. SWEED equipment is made and supported in the U.S.A. and comes with a one-year warranty. SWEED scrap choppers are installed on every continent except Antarctica and are used by satisfied customers in a wide range of industries, from small businesses to industry giants

Whether you need a simple chopper to handle your strapping or a customized solution for your manufacturing byproducts, SWEED scrap choppers will help you eliminate liability and increase productivity and profitability.  With SWEED scrap choppers working for you, you can make more with less!

Our History

It all started with an imported gang saw. After WWII, three brothers from Germany migrated to the United States and built a sawmill on Galls Creek in Gold Hill, Oregon. Dissatisfied with the imported gang saw they were using, they decided they could make a better saw themselves.
