Introducing Johnathon Honeywell

The Sweed team has a new member! In late 2018, Johnathon Honeywell joined Sweed as our new Recycling Systems Sales Engineer. Johnathon has a Mechanical Engineering degree from the University of North Florida in Jacksonville, where he had been living for over a decade working in the boiler industry as a steam engineer. “I grew up on the west coast, and I am so excited to come back,” he says.

Johnathon Honeywell is Sweed’s new Recycling Systems Sales Engineer.

As Recycling Systems Sales Engineer, Johnathon works directly with many of our customers to assess their needs, consult on their existing equipment, and make sure that we offer the right solution for them. Focusing on our line of recycling equipment, he has been working hard to ensure that our customers increase their copper and aluminum recovery while boosting system efficiency and improving the performance of their processing line. “The customers I tend to work with are from scrap yards and wire and cable manufacturers,” Johnathon explains. “The main thing they’re looking for is an increased ROI on their materials. Sweed’s machines help them process wire and other scrap to get the most money possible or recover the material for reuse in their processes.”

Talking to customers about our machines isn’t hard for him. “As a new guy on the job, I really appreciate how Sweed has some of the most robust, well-manufactured equipment on the market,” Johnathon says. “At trade shows, the first thing people notice is how durable and well-built our products are.” The most common question potential buyers ask him is about the processing capabilities of Sweed machines, both the type and the quantity of material that can be processed. “Our machines process most wire types for copper and aluminum recovery, and we have models with anywhere from 500 to over 12,000 plus pounds of processing power per hour; we offer a solution for every type of customer.”

Now that he has some months under his belt, Johnathon is starting to feel settled at Sweed. “There’s a great culture working here. The team is really tight-knit and family-oriented. The work is fast-paced, but everyone here is pretty easy going. It has that Southern Oregon hospitality,” he says. “I like that everyone from design and engineering to sales and shipping is all together in one place – it lets us all be on the same page about creating the best product.”

When he’s not at work, Johnathon likes to take advantage of all of the outdoor adventures Southern Oregon has to offer. “This area is ideal for me because I consider myself the complete Oregon outdoorsman,” he says. “I like skiing, surfing, hiking, biking, and running.” Of all of those, his two favorite activities are trail running and surfing. “There aren’t many places in the world where you can ski, kayak, and surf all in one day. It’s great to be here.”

Welcome, Johnathon!

Our History

It all started with an imported gang saw. After WWII, three brothers from Germany migrated to the United States and built a sawmill on Galls Creek in Gold Hill, Oregon. Dissatisfied with the imported gang saw they were using, they decided they could make a better saw themselves.
