Wood Products Sales & Business Development (Technical Sales)

Apply

Are you ready to build your career with a manufacturer that’s redefining equipment innovation in the wood products industry? Sweed Machinery is seeking a driven and energetic sales professional to lead growth in our Wood Products Division. This is a high-impact, high-visibility role reporting to the Sales Director and based out of our Gold Hill, Oregon headquarters.

We’re looking for someone who loves the thrill of the hunt, can build meaningful relationships with operators and executives alike, and wants to grow into a leader. Whether you come from the industry or bring a fresh perspective from a similar B2B industrial space, if you’re willing to travel, eager to learn, and relentless in pursuit of opportunity — you could be exactly who we’re looking for.

LOCATION REQUIREMENT

  • Candidates must live within daily commuting distance of Gold Hill, Oregon, or be willing to relocate, (relocation assistance may be available).
  • Travel up to 40% is required — with potential for more in the first 18 – 24 months during OSB market development

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Serve as the face of SWEED’s Wood Products Division for plywood, veneer, and OSB markets.
  • Develop and execute a territory growth plan with a strong outbound focus.
  • Drive new-market penetration in OSB by building relationships, conducting discovery, and identifying equipment opportunities.
  • Meet or exceed Performance Indicators (KPI’s)
  • Work closely with Engineering and Production to deliver technical solutions that improve customer throughput.
  • Own the full sales cycle — from prospecting, to closing, to post-sale engagement.
  • Travel regularly to mills, plants, and trade shows (16–20 weeks/year).
  • Help shape SWEED’s long-term go-to-market strategy for Wood Products.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • 5+ years of B2B outside sales experience, preferably in industrial, capital equipment, or manufacturing environments.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and curiosity around how equipment works — no engineering degree required.
  • A hunter mindset — energized by opening new doors and building new market verticals.
  • Excellent communication skills across operators, supervisors, engineers, and executives.
  • Experience using CRM tools to manage a pipeline and document customer activity.
  • Self-driven, adaptable, growth-minded professional, who would thrive on scaling an established foundation and excited to propel growth into new markets.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required.

WHY SWEED

  • Competitive pay base + commission
  • Medical, dental, vision, life, 401(k) benefits
  • Tight-knit culture with big impact
  • High autonomy and visibility
  • Real leadership growth opportunity as the division expands

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Must pass a pre-employment drug and health screening and remain in compliance with random testing.
  • Must be able to work safely in manufacturing environments.
