Sweed Machinery is seeking a hands-on Lead Engineer to drive the technical direction and success of our Material Handling Product Line. In this role, you’ll lead innovation through highly customized engineering — developing solutions precisely tailored to our customers’ processes and delivering outcomes they can trust. This is a leadership opportunity for an experienced engineer who enjoys designing, mentoring, and delivering real-world industrial solutions from concept through commissioning.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Lead and mentor a small team of engineers across multiple projects
- Own equipment design from concept, testing, and refinement through installation
- Manage priorities, schedules, and execution for multiple concurrent projects
- Collaborate with Sales, Production, and Operations to deliver customer-driven solutions
- Interface directly with customers to define equipment requirements and support startups
- Support commissioning, troubleshooting, and field installations
- Select components and collaborate with vendors and suppliers
- Communicate clearly across technical and non-technical teams
WHAT YOU BRING
- 10+ years of industrial or mechanical design experience
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, or related emphasis
- Strong project leadership and execution skills
- Proficiency in 3D CAD software for industrial or mechanical design
- Experience with mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems
- Previous leadership experience
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Hands-on problem solver with a builder’s mindset
- Willingness to travel up to 20% (U.S. & Canada)
- ERP system experience
- PLC / HMI exposure
