Sweed Machinery is seeking a hands-on Lead Engineer to drive the technical direction and success of our Material Handling Product Line. In this role, you’ll lead innovation through highly customized engineering — developing solutions precisely tailored to our customers’ processes and delivering outcomes they can trust. This is a leadership opportunity for an experienced engineer who enjoys designing, mentoring, and delivering real-world industrial solutions from concept through commissioning.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Lead and mentor a small team of engineers across multiple projects
  • Own equipment design from concept, testing, and refinement through installation
  • Manage priorities, schedules, and execution for multiple concurrent projects
  • Collaborate with Sales, Production, and Operations to deliver customer-driven solutions
  • Interface directly with customers to define equipment requirements and support startups
  • Support commissioning, troubleshooting, and field installations
  • Select components and collaborate with vendors and suppliers
  • Communicate clearly across technical and non-technical teams

WHAT YOU BRING

  • 10+ years of industrial or mechanical design experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, or related emphasis
  • Strong project leadership and execution skills
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD software for industrial or mechanical design
  • Experience with mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems
  • Previous leadership experience
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Hands-on problem solver with a builder’s mindset
  • Willingness to travel up to 20% (U.S. & Canada)
  • ERP system experience
  • PLC / HMI exposure
