SWEED Announces Redesigned SG1826 Granulator for Low to Mid-Volume Wire Processing

Gold Hill, OR – SWEED is expanding its upgraded granulator lineup with the newly redesigned SG1826, delivering the same high-performance enhancements and operator-friendly features found in the SG1840, now in a more compact footprint for lower processing volumes.

Built with the same commitment to durability, performance, and ease of maintenance, the SG1826 is ideal for operations that require heavy-duty granulating power without the full scale of SWEED’s larger models.

Engineered for Efficiency and Operator Ease

Like the larger model, the SG1826 features a range of thoughtful upgrades.

  • Streamlined Knife Maintenance: It features a horizontal front knife bed for easier gapping, a newly designed knife gauge for quick adjustments, and toggle clamps that allow tool-free access to the hood. The result: faster, easier knife changes.
  • Structural Durability: A reinforced base and front plates reduce vibration and extend machine life, an even sturdier drive guard provides extra durability, and the fully welded and precision-machined rotor ensures long-term performance and tighter tolerances.
  • Preventative Maintenance & Performance: A spring-loaded tensioner helps maintain consistent tension as the belt naturally wears over time, resulting in a more efficient, low-maintenance system built for longevity.
  • Improved Maintenance Access: An electromagnetic door latch allows quick, tool-free access to the cutting chamber, while a smaller motor platform provides better access to the rear of the machine.
  • Improved Design: The top and bottom housings are now machined after welding to ensure a tighter, more precise fit. The front hood wear plate has also been redesigned into multiple smaller pieces, allowing for a more consistent fit and making it manageable for a single person to install.
  • Extended Screen Life: Reversible screens offer longer life and more consistent performance.
  • Flexible Integration: The SG1826 can be paired with screw, belt, or pneumatic feed systems depending on your production setup.

Compact Powerhouse Specs

  • Motor Options: Choose from a 40 HP motor with six rotating knives or a 60 HP motor with ten, depending on your throughput needs.
  • Cutting Chamber: 26-inch width, perfect for operations with moderate processing demands.

Whether you’re building a new wire chopping line or expanding an existing one, the SG1826 offers SWEED’s reliable performance, designed for volume applications without sacrificing power or durability.
