Sales Manager

Apply

Sweed Machinery is seeking a Sales Manager to strengthen the processes, systems, accountability, and coordination behind our sales department.

This role is responsible for creating a consistent sales operating rhythm, improving pipeline visibility and CRM discipline, coordinating sales activity, and ensuring opportunities continue moving from initial engagement through quoting, customer decision, and order handoff.

The Sales Manager supports the internal sales team and outside sales representatives while preserving clear customer ownership. This position also helps identify new opportunities and recurring customer needs that can lead to repeatable sales growth.

Key Responsibilities

Sales Operations & Pipeline Management
  • Establish and maintain consistent pipeline reviews, opportunity reviews, scorecards, and follow-up expectations.
  • Monitor active opportunities for stalled activity, missed follow-up, unclear ownership, or unresolved action items.
  • Provide support to sales leads in progressing opportunities from discovery through quoting, customer follow-up, decision, and order handoff.
  • Coordinate with outside sales representatives on priorities, target accounts, customer activity, follow-up, and opportunity development.
  • Coach and reinforce consistent sales-process execution and accountability.
CRM & Sales Process Improvement
  • Serve as the primary business owner for CRM sales processes, reporting, data quality, and consistent usage.
  • Maintain pipeline stages, dashboards, KPI’s, scorecards, ownership fields, and reporting standards.
  • Ensure customer commitments, next steps, and internal action items are documented appropriately.
  • Use CRM data and sales activity to identify underserved accounts, new opportunities, recurring customer needs, and potential repeatable sales.
  • Identify opportunities to simplify and improve sales workflows and reporting.
Quote & Cross-Functional Coordination
  • Coordinate with Engineering, Operations, Finance, and Executive Leadership to support timely quotes and customer commitments.
  • Ensure clean sales-to-order handoffs by documenting customer commitments, assumptions, timing, and known risks.
  • Escalate stalled or unclear issues when appropriate.
Sales Team & Customer Support
  • Support complex, stalled, high-value, or strategically important opportunities.
  • Participate in customer discussions when additional coordination or escalation is beneficial.
  • Help resolve customer issues by engaging the appropriate internal resources.
  • Support sales-team onboarding, training, and continuous improvement.
What We’re Looking For

The ideal candidate is highly organized, analytical, and comfortable creating accountability across a sales organization. You should be able to recognize stalled work, unclear responsibilities, missed follow-up, and emerging sales opportunities—and help drive action without taking ownership away from the sales team.

Qualifications
  • Experience in sales operations, sales management, commercial operations, business operations, or a related role.
  • Experience with B2B sales processes, including pipeline management, quoting, forecasting, customer follow-up, and opportunity management.
  • Strong CRM experience; HubSpot experience preferred.
  • Experience developing dashboards, KPIs, reports, forecasts, or sales-performance metrics.
  • Strong analytical, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to establish accountability while maintaining positive working relationships.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and changing deadlines.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Sales, Marketing, Operations, or a related field preferred; equivalent relevant experience will be considered.
  • Experience in manufacturing, industrial equipment, capital equipment, engineered products, or another technical B2B environment preferred.
What Success Looks Like
  • The CRM and sales pipeline are current, accurate, and reliable.
  • Opportunities have clear ownership, next steps, and follow-through.
  • Inside and outside sales activities are aligned and visible.
  • Sales opportunities progress consistently with fewer missed commitments.
  • The pipeline includes a healthy flow of new opportunities, with increased focus on repeatable customer needs and applications.
  • Complex quotes receive timely cross-functional support.
  • Leadership has useful visibility through accurate dashboards, forecasts, and pipeline reporting.
  • Sales processes become more consistent, efficient, measurable, and easier for the team to execute.

If you enjoy bringing structure and accountability to a technical sales environment while helping a team turn opportunities into results, we’d like to hear from you!
