Lead Product Engineer

We are currently seeking a full-time Lead Product Engineer.

Key Responsibilities

As a Lead Product Engineer, you will lead and inspire a team of talented engineers in creating the direction, quality, and success of Sweed’s Material Handling Product Line. In this role, you will drive innovation, conceptualize, design, test and implement projects. Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure product quality, performance, and customer satisfaction exceed expectations.

Primary Duties

  • Conceptualize & Design

    • Design and test concepts to automate the customer’s specific processes. Troubleshoot and study all aspects of industrial equipment and execute assignments for multiple projects in a timely manner.

  • Customer Support/Travel

    • Partner with Sales on trips to help understand the customer’s need and define opportunities for product innovation and the value it can bring. Onsite customer visits for testing, commissioning, startup support and trouble shooting. This travel will constitute up to 15% of your role.

  • Research

    • Research and collaborate with suppliers and vendors to determine proper components for the application.

Knowledge & Skill Requirements

  • Live and breathe SWEED Core Values

  • Proficient in Solid Edge or similar application

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience with mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical drive systems.

  • Experience solving complex problems with little to no supervision and on schedule as an individual or as a member of an integrated team.

  • Mechanical installation/trouble shooting experience.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience in ERP systems

  • Experience with PLC/HMI control a plus

Background & Education Requirements

  • Bachelors in mechanical engineering, or related emphasis, from a 4-year accredited college or university, or comparable experience.

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in industrial design.

Special Requirements

  • Be able to work in a drug-free environment.

  • Must pass a pre-employment drug and health screening, as well as random drug tests.
