Model 517 XHD Scrap Chopper

The Model 517 XHD has more cutting capacity for custom applications than the standard Model 517. The cutting capacity is increased by adding a 5HP drive motor over the standard 3 HP. This is the chopper of choice for custom applications or for operations converting substantial quantities of linear
material. Prepared for an abusive environment, this scrap chopper has a strong 1/2” plate steel housing. The Model 517 XHD also has a magnetic starter to protect workers from an unexpected restart after loss of power. The air activated feedworks is controlled with a footswitch for operator safety and other safety options are available.

How it Works

Just introduce the material (banding/bale wire) into the infeed funnel. The feedworks (pinch rolls) will then grab the material and pull it into the rotating knife path. The feedworks will continue to pull at a rate of 90 fpm until the material is consumed or the operator releases the feedworks via the release lever.
