Sweed has taken the design of their old Model 450 scrap chopper and improved it to be faster and more powerful; this new design is known as the Model 450 WM XHD Dual Drive Scrap Chopper. This particular scrap chopper is the chopper of choice for companies processing large volumes of plastic or PET banding and is the best in its class.

Sweed’s dual drive scrap chopper features a 1 HP motor and added mass on the flywheel, which allows the chopper additional cutting capability. The wide infeed on this scrap chopper makes for effortless feeding for the operator, allowing a user to feed 4-8 straps of plastic banding at once. The dual drive feedworks design makes for quick and efficient processing of the scrap, even when the plastic banding is tangled in a nest of straps. This scrap chopper sits on an optional sturdy Sweed stand.

How it Works

Just introduce the material (banding) into the infeed funnel. The feedworks (pinch rolls) will then grab the material and pull it into the rotating knife path. The feedworks will continue to pull at a rate of 120 FPM until the material is consumed or the operator releases the feedworks via the release lever.
